Dance

We believe that dance is for every BODY! Kids of all ages and abilities are welcome. Find a style that works for you or join a few. We have something for everyone!

 

23-24 Schedule

Early Learners

Ages 18mos-5

18mos-2.5 Perfect for kiddos interested in dance but not quite ready to do it alone. Grab your favorite grownup and get onto the dance floor where we will explore movement, connection, and body awareness.

 

This is a non-performing class

This 30 minute class is perfect for independent dancers aged 2.5-4. Utilizing BrainDance ® dancers will explore early creative movement and terminology. 

 

Dancers must be 2.5 by September 1st

This 45 minute combo class is perfect for independent dancers aged 4-5. Dancers will learn pre-ballet and tap movements and terminology.

Minis

Ages 5-6

This 45 minute class is perfect for 4-6 year olds. Utilizing BrainDance ® dancers will explore early ballet movement and terminology. 

This 45 minute class is perfect for 4-6 year-olds. Dancers will explore rhythm, beat, and isolations  with fun, high-energy music.

Youth

Ages 7-11

Dancers will work at the barre as well as center floor and upper levels work across the floor. Correct alignment, proper technique, and dance injury prevention will be part of regular instruction.

Ages 9+

Dancers will explore body awareness and emotional intelligence through contemporary and modern. History of both styles will be taught. A strong foundation in dance is recommended for dancers in this class; ballet and jazz are recommended to be taken concurrently.

This class will introduce Jazz technique and vocabulary, focusing on classic and broadway styles. Musical rhythms and isolations will be taught with an emphasis on the importance of energy and style. Roots of jazz dance and music will also be explored throughout the season.

Our beginner/intermediate tap class will explore time steps, foot work, & rhythms through combinations and floor crossings.

This high-intensity, high-energy dance style will combine a mix of hip hop styles and breaking. History and Culture of hip hop will also be taught. History and culture of hip hop will also be taught.

Street styles will explore the history and culture of multiple sub-genres of hip hop, such as Popping, Breaking and Krump.

JUNIOR 

Beginner/Intermediate Ages 12+

Have a teen that has never danced before or just starting out? Our teen dance sampler is a great way to explore dance without the pressure of keeping up with peers who have been dancing forever. Explore ballet, contemporary, and jazz styles in a fun and accepting environment.

This class will build on Ballet technique and vocabulary. Good for beginner to intermediate level students looking to build on proper technique.
Recreational students are welcome to take class 1 or 2 times a week
Competition dancers are required to take class 2 times a week

Director Approval Only
This class is offered to ballet students who are ready to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go on to pointe shoes.
This class will be split in two sections:
1st half: (Sep-January)
Pre-pointe conditioning exercises to ensure students are ready and prepared to go on pointe shoes.
2nd half: (Feb-June)
Pointe introductory class.
Basic ballet barre pointe exercises for students who are ready to go on pointe. Qualified students will go on a field trip to our local ballet store accompanied by a teacher to get pointe shoes fitted properly at the beginning of this period. Pointe ballet shoes will be stored at the studio for the duration of the session to prevent at home injury.

*Students may be ready to transition to on pointe at different times. Teacher will evaluate each student’s case and decide if the student is ready to transition to pointe based on class progress.

Intermediate/Advanced Ages 14+

This class will introduce dancers to ballet positions & contemporary vocabulary. Dancers will work at the barre, as well as center floor and across the floor exercises. Correct alignment, proper technique, and dance injury prevention will be part of regular instruction.
Recreational Dancers are welcome to take class 1 or 2 times a week
Contraption Dancers are requires to take class 2 times a week

This class will explore Jazz technique and vocabulary. Accented movements, musical rhythms, and isolations will be taught with an emphasis on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. The roots of jazz dance and music will be explored throughout the season

Director Approval Required

This class will combine Graham and Contact improvisation dance techniques.
Graham technique is rooted in the principles of contraction and release, emphasizing on movement from the core to the extremities using breathing and the opposition of forces.

Contact Improvisation technique plays with the artistry of falling off balance, counterbalance, finding the shelves of the body, and learning the mechanics of the body in order to handle someone else’s weight or be lifted.

A strong foundation in dance is recommended for dancers in this class; contemporary, ballet, and jazz are recommended to be taken concurrently.
